Totems is a new board game featuring: maps, topology and of course strategy! If you enjoy Risk, Carcassonne, Go, Stratego, or even Uno or Solitaire, you will love the “easy-to-learn, hard-to-master” fun of this game.

@ 148 Apps: “It’s addicting, a pleasure to play, and has earned a permanent spot on my device.”

@ App Advice: “It is heavy on strategy, but light on rules... you will be guaranteed endless amounts of fun.”

@ Pocket Tactics: “Totems manages to challenge some of the basic assumptions of strategy gaming with it’s all-or-nothing take on territory control, while still being simple enough to learn in an afternoon. For that alone, it deserves to plant its standard on your iDevice’s shores.” Score: 5 of 5!

@ App Store: Featured by Apple in "Best New Games!"

GAME DESCRIPTION

The game design is derived from the world-famous “4-Color Map Theorem”. The randomness of the totems in your ‘hand’, the changing colors of the territories, the variety of the maps, and the cleverness of your opponents will all conspire to make each turn a fun and interesting challenge.

The object of the game is to place carved animal pieces (totems) on the map in order to claim territories. Each turn you will place matching totems on adjacent territories to expand your control of the map. The player who conquers the most territories when the map is full, wins. A game of Totems can be finished super-quickly or slowly, depending on your skills and your approach.

Pros and cons of Totems: Game of Conquest app for iPhone and iPad

Totems: Game of Conquest app good for

The app and the graphics are quite smooth and well done. The tactical elements of the final game is the only reason this isnt a 5 star everyone needs this app. Being both simple (you place a peg of the same type to capture all the connected areas marked by that peg) and complex (more pegs then areas to claim and not all areas are the same shape) allows for quick picking up of the rules. But once I finish playing the game a dozen times with friends and family members I cannot see it staying on my iPhone for another month.
This game is perfect, very strategic, and still quite fast paced. Awsome game!!

Some bad moments

Always freeze on iPad 2, cant even play one turn after first map...
Ive played 30 games with my wife, one thing came out : whoever plays first, loses.
Simple rules but complex play; a great variation of the territory control concept.
This is a wonderful strategy game. Its super simple to pick up. The strategy is engaging and deep enough to allow you to sit and think about stuff The only complaint I have is that it has a system of random unit selection this can get really annoying if you pull something horrid. However, the game makes up for this by allowing you to depict units.
This game is easy to learn, but difficult to master. With a variety of maps and tokens, this game will definitely keep you busy, and I definitely recommend it.
Updated review: it got old quick. My original review was glowing. I paid $2 for it, so no biggie.
